The Visitor Levy (Scotland) Act 2024, enables local authorities to introduce a visitor levy on overnight stays. East Lothian Council is now consulting on a Draft Visitor Levy Scheme for the area.
A visitor levy would apply to visitors staying in accommodation that is not their ordinary place of residence.
We are seeking views from residents, visitors, businesses and communities to help inform whether a scheme should be introduced, and if so, how it should be designed and operated in East Lothian.
