Employability Services

The Invest East Lothian team includes East Lothian Works, providing a one stop shop for employers seeking support whether that be with staffing or skills development and funding. The service works in partnership with East Lothian Council’s Economic Development service, the Department for Work and Pensions and Skills Development Scotland.

Services

Assistance can cover: recruitment; advertising vacancies; apprentices; work-based placements; training in for example literacy, numeracy and IT skills; and qualifications.

Funding

Support is available with funding for employers and those looking for/in work, including (but not limited to):

Employer Recruitment Incentive - funding for employers that recruit individuals with barriers into employment - including long term unemployed people.

No One Left Behind - in work training grant for employers recruiting an individual with a barrier to employment.

Paid Work Experience - an opportunity for employers to give an individual who needs support to move into work a paid work experience.

Parental Employability Support - support for parents in work to upskill and retrain.

Employee Development

Support for employees, who are looking to apply for promotion, with applications, interview skills, CVs and mock interviews.

Work Experience Programme

Provides students of Secondary School the opportunity to gain experience and help them think about their future career plans.

For employers, it gives organisations the opportunity to give back to the community, providing young people with invaluable opportunities that they will take forward in their future decision making. It also provides the chance to show the future work force what working in their company is like, perhaps recruiting future members of staff.
