Sunamp receives prestigious King's Award for Enterprise in Innovation

In 2023, Sunamp was one of 148 organizations across the UK to receive the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise, recognising its excellence in innovation. Initially announced on April 21, 2023, the award was officially presented to Sunamp’s co-founders, Andrew Bissell and Susan Lang-Bissell, by East Lothian’s Lord-Lieutenant, Mr. Roderick Urquhart, during a company-wide celebration event at Whitekirkhill on July 16, 2024. The event featured a Highland Games theme, bringing employees together to mark the occasion.

Founded in 2005, Sunamp is based in Macmerry, East Lothian and employs 80 people. The company is a pioneer in thermal storage technology, designing and manufacturing compact heat batteries. These are built on their patented Plentigrade® thermal storage platform, which efficiently stores heat from nearly any energy source. Their innovative Thermino range can store renewable energy and deliver hot water, offering a highly efficient solution that takes up to four times less space than conventional hot water cylinders. Sunamp’s products support the transition to low-carbon heating and cooling in buildings.
